Rodnik, Fall 2008 show
There's some hope in the air for once. Change. That was Obama's calling card and the celebrations in New York last night were raucous, fun and involved. Everything an election day should be and nothing like any other election day in recent memory. For those fashion-minded, hope for the economy can mean we can loosen our belts a bit and buy that special piece that would take your Fall/Winter wardrobe to another level. A girl-friend of ours was in town from San Diego and she has an artsy streak. No better way to ease out of the sunny sameness of SoCal by taking a girl shopping. We made our usual swing of boutique shops, but the winner was No. 6 on a quiet stretch of Baxter Street. There were some great drapey pieces from Henrik Vibskov as well as a handful of hard-to-find British labels like PPQ and Rodnik. Co-owner Karin Bereson was more than knowledgeable and steered us in sizing and new collections. Indeed our girl-friend walked out with the opening look of Rodnik's Fall 2008 show. What better way to say hello to the incumbent by doing our American civic duty to spend.
