MOONSPOON SALOON, COPENHAGEN FUN

La Gata Lista for FABRIC magazine:

I went to an amazing Danish Christmas party this past weekend, whereupon deep in conversation with a stylish Dane over cups of gløgg, we completely agreed Henrik Vibskov is a genius. While labels like Staerk, Ivan Grundahl and Noir have transformed Copenhagen into a fashion hothouse for perfect draping, clean lines and cultured minimalism, Vibskov is the unpredictable one-eyed jack showing everything from outlandish men’s tights to a simple double lapel black cardigan. Carrying on the Danish torch for sometimes crazy, sometimes breathtaking fashion, is the art and fashion collective Moonspoon Saloon. Created by collaborators Sara Sachs, Tal R., Noam Griegst and Melanie Buchhav, Moonspoon debuted an anything-goes, 14-piece collection of patchwork onesies, ballooning parkas and artfully decorated tops for Spring/Summer 2009. model alert

from FABRICmag.com

Isabeli Fontana can do no wrong. After seeing the behind-the-scenes videos from the Pirelli calendar shoot, the poor thing endured giant grasshoppers, elephants and dead birds. Give her a cover why don’t you, or how about two? The Brazilian beauty is starting off the new year right, locking down January 2009 covers for Numero and German Vogue. Continue…

THE STATEMENT SHOE

Nicholas Kirkwood, A/W -08

La Gata Lista for FABRIC magazine:

In a sea of simple sheaths sedate necklines and plain tees, the only way to stand out (literally) from a crowd is with a pair of death-defying, statement heels. Continue

Marc Jacobs x Bugaboo

LA GATA LISTA writing for FABRIC magazine
Recently I was informed of the stratospheres of baby strollers. (I live in Tribeca, the land of ex-model mommies and their nannies.) Here I had been thinking all along that Maclaren strollers were the cream of the crop, when I was kindly corrected by a girl-friend of mine that said, No, no, no, Bugaboos are the Rolls Royces of baby-dom. My bad. Continue

let's celebrate Obama! shopping bliss at No. 6

Rodnik, Fall 2008 show

There's some hope in the air for once. Change. That was Obama's calling card and the celebrations in New York last night were raucous, fun and involved. Everything an election day should be and nothing like any other election day in recent memory. For those fashion-minded, hope for the economy can mean we can loosen our belts a bit and buy that special piece that would take your Fall/Winter wardrobe to another level.  A girl-friend of ours was in town from San Diego and she has an artsy streak. No better way to ease out of the sunny sameness of SoCal by taking a girl shopping. We made our usual swing of boutique shops, but the winner was No. 6 on a quiet stretch of Baxter Street. There were some great drapey pieces from Henrik Vibskov as well as a handful of hard-to-find British labels like PPQ and Rodnik. Co-owner Karin Bereson was more than knowledgeable and steered us in sizing and new collections. Indeed our girl-friend walked out with the opening look of Rodnik's Fall 2008 show. What better way to say hello to the incumbent by doing our American civic duty to spend.

Yes, more than likely we are broke, but the holiday season is practically upon us and for the smart shopper, there is nothing like getting a jump on the gun. Chances are the early bird will snag both the better prices and the sizes, as one who used to work in retail knows, the post-Thanksgiving day sales are usually a ruse to get your blood boiling with excitement but doesn't necessarily translate to your pocketbook. 20th century marketing at its finest. Here is a list of fun potables that will bring smiles to your loved ones without emptying your wallet.
